The song “Survival” by Muse has been selected as the first official song of the London 2012 Olympics. The song will be played throughout the Olympic Games and will also be played when the athletes enter the stadium. “Survival: will also lead into the medal ceremonies.

Front man Matt Bellamy has stated that he wrote the song with the Olympics in mind and told BBC that the song “expresses a sense of conviction and determination to win”.

“We are very excited to announce that a Muse song, ‘Survival,’ has been selected by the London Olympic committee to be the main official song for the London 2012 Olympic Games,” the band said on its website Wednesday.

This news was announced following the ban taking part in the official torch procession. During the torch procession, they carried the flame through their hometown.

The song will get its first play on England’s Radio 1 Wednesday night and will then go on sale to the public via iTunes.
