Queen Latifah Admits Adoption Plan in Works

Rapper/singer/actress Queen Latifah told The View’s Barbara Walters recently that she has wanted to adopt a child since she was a teenager and has already begun researching the process so that she can adopt a son or daughter by the end of 2013.

“I’m actually kind of working on that…” she said when asked about her intentions to adopt a child. “I think I saw one of those specials… you know those movies of the week. And it was like – and I just always wanted to bring a child home.”

Latifah, recipient of a Grammy award for her work in music business as well as nominated for an Emmy and an Oscar for her acting work in such films as “Chicago”, said she finalized her resolve to adopt after watching a television film in which adoption was a key theme.

“I’m totally serious, so if you got a kid that you don’t (want)… Just give me a year – let me set up camp and send me the kid. But no, no totally.”

She joins a growing number of successful women celebrities opting to adopt rather than have birth children.
