Victoria’s Secret has announced their cover model for 2013 and the winner is 5’9″ South African beauty Candice Swanepoel.
Swanepoel told PEOPLE Magazine:
“It was such an honor to be picked for the cover … It is such an iconic catalogue. Before I was a model, I used to see Gisele Bündchen, Tyra Banks and all of those iconic women on it. It is amazing that a little South African girl can get on the cover.”
She’s most known for her ultra-thin waist which has attracted much criticism to her from detractors who say she is too thin and projects the wrong image for young girls. However, there’s never been any proof that Swanepoel is anything but naturally thin.
Swanepoel is said to have an estimated net worth of $5 million dollars earned largely from modeling. Her current resume of cover spreads is impressive and includes Elle magazine, Vogue, GQ, Harper’s Bazar, and now Victoria’s Secret.
In addition, she has done endorsements for Nike, Guess?, Tommy Hilfiger, and fashion giant Versace. She’s currently on huge rise to stardom having doubled her net worth over the past year.
