Barack Obama’s youngest child received a humorous reaction on Twitter and other media outlets after yawning during her father’s inauguration speech. Ironically, the president had been speaking about school at the time.
“No single person can train all the math and science teachers we’ll need to equip our children for the future, or build the roads and networks and research labs that will bring new jobs and businesses to our shores.” Obama said.
He paused to allow his massive audience’s applause to subside, and news cameras switched from him to a reaction shot of the First Family behind him. This allowed them to capture Sasha’s yawn.
Perhaps she was bored with this part of his speech.
More likely, she was just tired after having to wake up early for the inauguration festivities.
of courss the eagle eyes on twitter were quick to point out the moment:
Lorie Miner wrote: “In today’s news, Sasha Obama yawns a ginormous yawn during her dad’s speech. #weunderstand #neverliveitdown”
Vera Herburt said: “Best part of the inauguration: Sasha’s GIANT “Dad you’re boring me” yawn.”
Mal Batcher took a more sympathetic approach saying: “Sasha’s yawn caught by @abcnews telecast. Adorbs. Were I her age and in her place, probably be yawning too. You’ll get it one day, kiddo.”
USA Today notes, this isn’t the first time that Sasha has yawned while listening to her famous father. In 2008, she reportedly “yawned during the Democratic National Convention with her head on her mom’s lap.”
Did you catch the Sasha Obama Yawn?
