Some spectators were aghast at the unexpected wardrobe malfunction, while others contend that it was the design of the dress that caused the uproar, created from two distinct pieces of fabric connected by a sheer lining.
As she proceeded to accept her SAG award statuette, the bottom half of the dress was still connected, although it looked as thought it was hanging by a thread, revealing more skin and more bare leg than Lawrence had originally anticipated.
Fans and award attendees applauded her pluck in continuing to accept her honors without missing a beat.
Watching it on Piers Morgan Tonight last week, she cringed and said: “My pants fell down!”
She explained: “Somebody trips me on the way, I remember that. And yeah—there it starts to fall off. And then I’m keeping it together, keeping it together, then my pants fall off again!”
Lawerence isn’t the only young star to have a recent wardrobe malfunction.
Julianne Hough may have danced too hard with the stars after the 70th Annual Golden Globes award show on Sunday night. Like many stars, Hough headed off to a swank celebrity after party when the show was over in Los Angeles. She attended InStyle’s Golden Globes party in a fancy salmon colored gown designed by Jenny Packham.
All was well until the saucy little blonde got a little too jiggy with it and tore the front of the gown by ripping two seems in the front.
Julianne documented the whole wardrobe malfunction on her twitter account and included a few photos. She also gave a stern warning to all of the future red carpet walkers, these dresses aren’t made to withstand hard partying!
Hough walked the red carpet during at the Golden Globes in a regal Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2013 gown. She switched into the Jenny Packham gown specifically for the party.
“Ummm I think I may have danced too hard…. Eeek!!!!” Hough tweeted on Jan. 14. Eventually, she made light of the malfunction situation though.
