While appearing on a recent episode of Ellen DeGeneres’ popular talk show, supermodel and mother Heidi Klum recalled her recent rescue of her 7-year old son and his two nannies that took place in the ocean waters during a Hawaiian vacation.
Klum revealed that her son Henry has been taking swimming lessons since he was two years old and has become a really strong swimmer. Klum says she believes that his two nannies were much more in danger of drowning or being swept out to sea than her son was because of his swimming abilities.
Klum says she remembered advice given to her son during his lessons that it was important to remain calm and avoid stress whenever in deep water and she followed that advice to scoop him out of the water in a matter of seconds. But she says that rescuing adults is much more difficult than rescuing a child, admitting it was very hard to save the two women.
Klum admits she didn’t realize that anyone was within camera range filming her heroic actions. But she said it proved a lesson for everyone to realize that conditions in the water can change from calm to dangerous in what seemed like an instant and to always remain vigilent.
