The recent photo that Patrick Stewart Tweeted now has Americans across the nation wondering if they can get pizza in England. On May 29th, the actor, known globally for his portrayal of Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation, as well as for his portrayal of Professor Charles Xavier in the hit X-Men series, tweeted his fans a photo of himself wearing a ball cap, sipping on a soda, and eating what looks to be a plain cheese pizza.
“My first ever pizza “slice””, Stewart tweeted, “Please note: the authentic NY fold.”
Stewart indulged in this American favorite at the Smiling Pizza restaurant in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Steve Zito, the owner, was surprised to learn about the tweet.
“I didn’t know it was his first slice,” he said. “I would have given him another.”
But was it really Stewart’s first pizza slice? New York Magazine made sure to point out that Stewart met Sunny Ozell, his current fiancé, when she was a server at Franny’s, a popular Brooklyn pizza restaurant. No matter whether it was truly the actor’s first slice or not, the photo was retweeted over 1800 times. It seems that no one can get enough of this sci-fi favorite!
The captain later tweeted what he meant by “slice.”
To clarify: 1) I’ve never had a “slice” 2) I’ve been a Habs fan all of 4 weeks 3) I’m also a fan of Bloomberg’s soda legislation.
