New Corvette Stingray

The much anticipated 2014 Corvette Stingray pushes the boundary of technology and performance for the modern sports car enthusiast. It boasts an eco driving mode as well as the standard manual transmission. With the eco drive mode, it gets an incredible 29 miles per gallon on the highway. In stark comparison, the Porsche 911 gets a paltry 19 miles per gallon.

“The 2014 Corvette Stingray’s LT1 engine is a triumph of advanced technology, delivering more power and torque than ever before with greater efficiency,” said chief engineer Jordan Lee.

There have been additional upgrades to the 2014 model that are not available in previous incarnations.

Every Corvette model now comes standard with an aluminum body. Previous year models required an upgrade for the feature. The chassis has also been redesigned resulting in weight reduction of close to 100 pounds.

The 2014 model also boasts the option of a 6 speed automatic transmission if manual is not your cup of tea.

The C7 model has more get up and go than any previous model. It only takes less than 4 seconds to go from 0 to 60. The model also has a quicker stop time than previous incarnations.

“The LT1’s performance complements the Corvette’s low mass with a tremendous feeling of power that builds as the rpm climbs,” Lee said. “Drivers will experience more power and acceleration than ever before with the standard engine – in fact, its power and torque surpass many uplevel engines offered by competitors.”

The 2014 model bucks tradition but remains a sports car enthusiasts dream car. The sleek design, increased miles per gallon, and great price range make this a great option for an American sports car.

“Stingray is one of the hallowed names in automotive history,” said Ed Welbun, vice president of global design, in the release material for the vehicle. “We knew we couldn’t use the Stingray name unless the new car truly lived up to the legacy. The result is a new Corvette Stingray that breaks from tradition, while remaining instantly recognizable as a Corvette the world over.”

The Stingray coupe starts at a base price of $51,999, and the convertible at $56,995. Fully loaded, the price tag climbs to $73,360.
