Rae Dawn Chong Calls Oprah the ‘N’ Word, Says She Was Complementing Her

Rae Dawn Chong On Tape Using “N” Word Against Oprah

Fox News and other sources have reported that Rae Dawn Chong, 52, recently appeared on Matty P’s Radio Happy Hour, where she proceeded to rip into her former co-star on “The Color Purple”. Chong referred to Winfrey in disparaging terms, calling her a “total *****” and “a brown noser”. She compared Oprah to “fat chick that was a cheerleader or the wannabe cheerleader in school that was the student council president that was the best friends with the principal.”

The rivalry between Winfrey and Chong apparently began after shooting wrapped on the set of “The Color Purple”. In the wake of the film’s success, Chong went on to co-star with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the blockbuster hit “Commando”. Afterwards, according to Chong, Winfrey “just wasn’t having me. She’s competitive. She didn’t like me.”

Chong also asserted that,”If you look at the way [Oprah] looks, she looks like 60 years ago she would have been a house keeper, luckily.”

The interview ended with a compliment. “This woman is a miracle and I respect her and I say kudos to you, and I don’t give two cents about the other parts of it,” she said. “She shifted the DNA in terms of our thinking of a woman of a certain size and a certain shade. I love her for that.”

In a video statement posted this morning, Chong tried to explain “the giant sh-t-storm I created this morning.”

“Out of context, it’s a most unfortunate choice of words and I regret it,” she said in the video. “In context, I was actually complimenting Oprah.”

Winfrey has issued no response as of yet.
