It looks like tiger has managed to lose a tooth.
Tiger Woods made an appearance at the Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, on Monday, Jan. 19, but it was his missing front tooth that generated all the buzz.
Woods, 39, supported his ski-pro girlfriend Lindsey Vonn as she raced to victory in her super-G tournament on Monday, where she broke records with the 63rd win in her career. Woods, who spent the day wearing a skull-faced bandana over his face, was photographed at one moment intently watching his love of nearly two years from afar.
Woods took off his bandana at one point and gaped at his girlfriend as she broke a 35-year-old record with her win. Noticeably missing from Woods’ world-famous mouth, however, was one of his front two teeth.
The golf champs agent addressed the gaping hole in his pearly whites on Monday, saying it was the result of an unfortunate accident.
“During a crush of photographers at the awards’ podium at the World Cup event in Italy, a media member with a shoulder-mounted video camera pushed and surged towards the stage, turned and hit Tiger Woods in the mouth,” his agent Mark Steinberg told the Daily Mail. “Woods’ tooth was knocked out by the incident.”
ESPN add that this isn’t Woods’ first run-in with a camera:
Woods has a long history with cameras, often frustrated when shutters go off in the middle of his swing. One notable episode came during the Skins Game in 2002 when a corporate photographer clicked his camera as Woods was hitting a shot from the bunker on the final hole. His former caddie, Steve Williams, took the camera and set it on a steep bank of a pond so that it tumbled into the water.
Another time, Woods was on the verge of his first bogey-free tournament at a World Golf Championship in Ireland when a camera clicked at the top of his tee shot. He made bogey, but still won.
Vonn didn’t noticed her beau’s missing fang, but was pleasantly surprised to see him attend the race.
“I didn’t know he was here at the finish until I actually was done with my race and my dad said, ‘Hey look, I found someone,”’ Vonn, 30, told Savannah Guthrie and Willie Geist. “It was incredible. I had hoped that he would come, but he’s in training. He’s got a tournament coming up. I would never have expected him to show up, but it meant a lot to me. He’s a catch. He’s a good boyfriend.”
