The Kardashians are the source of constant drama and tabloid fodder ad nauseam . That said, they are laughing all the way to the bank with their latest deal with E!Network. Family matriarch Kris Jenner and her children Khloe, Kourtney, Kendall & Kylie Jenner, have signed a four-year contract extension worth $100 million. The contract will keep running new episodes of “Keeping up with the Kardashians”, and “Kourtney and Khloe Take the Hamptons”. In addition, Kim will continue hosting her red carpet specials.
The specific terms of the contract grant a 3-year extension to the two popular reality TV shows. The NY Post reports that the contract will last four years. Apparently, the family’s star power has increased dramatically over the past three years. Back in 2012, the family signed a contract extension for three years’ worth an estimated $40 million. The current deal is 2.5 times that amount. Fans enjoyed the wedding special of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. They similarly loved the arrival of the couple’s love child. At the same time, they enjoyed watching Khloe deal with her marital struggles with her now estranged husband Lamar Odom. The months of tabloid rumors centered on the tag line “Where’s Lamar?” turned one sister’s personal tragedy into a ratings bonanza.
There was one glaring omission on the contract: Bruce Jenner. He will be starting his own reality TV show apart from his own children from his marriage to Kris Jenner. He will be discussing his sex change in his own reality TV show. Season 10 of “Keeping up with the Kardashians” will air Sunday, March 15. Parent company Comcast has downplayed the $100 million price tag. However, the company plans to make up for the record shattering price tag on other aspects of the show such as the cost of the show’s content.
