‘High School Musical 4’ Casting For High School Musical 4

Perhaps nothing encapsulates the star making power of Disney quite like the High School Musical franchise. The first three movies, starring Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, were a global sensation in the early 200s, spawning music deals, world tours, and a generation of fans.

Now, Disney has announced the production of High School Musical 4. Peter Barsocchini and Dan Berendsen are set to write the scrip for the film, while Jeffrey Hornaday will direct and choreograph. Hornaday is well known for his work on other Disney movies, such as Teen Beach Movie and Teen Beach 2.

The plot of High School Musical 4 will still center around the East High Wildcats once again, and also introduce their rival school, the West High Knights.

The sequel was first proposed back in 2009, but never materialized. Motivation for the revival comes from the ever increasing popularity of TV musicals, such as Grease, The Sound of Music, and The Wiz.

High School Musical is part of Disney Channel’s DNA,” Disney Channel PresidentGary Marsh said in a statement. “It embodies all that we stand for. As a way of continuing to embrace that heritage, we’re excited to announce ‘the start of something new’ as we launch a search for a new class of East High Wildcats to star in a fourth installment of the High School Musical franchise.”

Casting calls for the latest installment have been sent out and submissions are rolling in. High School Musical 4 will be cast by Jason La Padura, C.S.A., Natalie Hart, C.S.A., and Kendra Patterson, C.S.A., of LaPadura/Hart/Patterson. Submissions are being taken through the call posted on Disney’s site.
