Stone Roses release new song

The Stone Roses have been hinting for a while now that something major is in the works. Last year, after plastering the UK with posters of a lemon logo, the band announced their live return. Now, the mysterious citrus-y posters have returned — and this time, they’re marking the arrival of the band’s first new song in more than 20 years.

Frontman Ian Brown confirmed that the group has been recording new music, and now the first listen is set to arrive in the form of a new single later today (May 12), reports the BBC.

The band announced the news on social media, revealing that the new track would be getting released 8 p.m. GMT (or 3 p.m. EDT).

Band members had discussed new material ever since they reformed in 2011, but nothing has emerged until now.

Speaking in 2011, singer Ian Brown said: “It’s not a trip down memory lane, not at all. We are doing new songs.”

No songs appeared.

Last year, bassist Mani said the band had “been working on a few bits” and a new album was coming in “2015 man, 2015!”
