Researchers used charts of height and weight of more than 710,000 children who had been for either inpatient or outpatient care during 2007 and 2008.

The children were classified as either overweight, obese or extremely obese.

“Extreme obesity is defined as 120% of the 95th percentile for weight
for age and sex,” explained the study leader.

The results showed that more than 37% of children were overweight, 19.4% were obese and 6.4 were extremely obese.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission they have received numerous reports of the chairs collapsing and children being seriously hurt, and have thus issued the recall for the product. The type of chair being recalled, luckily is no longer in production, but still, there are more than 1.2 million of them named in the recall.
