Bluetooth Wireless Speakers

Reviewing a pair of speakers is always a bit of a daunting task simply because there are so many different styles of speakers, high-end, low-end, some with special features, etc. It seems though that Parrot is going for the ultimate office convenience with their set of Parrot DS1120 Bluetooth Speakers. Did they do enough to rock out your office?

The Parrot DS1120 Bluetooth Speakers carry the big selling point that they are small, compact, stylish, and can sync up with your Bluetooth device.

These are a nice set of speakers for what they are worth, as we were easily able to sync them up with our computers thanks to the supplied Bluetooth USB dongle, as well as with our Bluetooth mobile phones.

Syncing up the speakers to your Bluetooth device is an absolute breeze as all you have to do is hit the sync button on the speakers.

The speakers themselves are very stylish as they are pure black and feature 3 touch-sensitive buttons which light up blue and red, they are up and down volume buttons and the power/sync button. They are separate speakers but they talk to each other once one is linked up to a Bluetooth device.

As stated syncing them as easy as could be, but how do they sound? The speakers are not very powerful, as they are more like small office speakers rather than speakers you can set up to really blow someone away.

The speakers do a good job by creating a relatively crisp and clear audio experience, but have a hard time when it comes to really cranking them up with bass. I would compare them to a nice pair of computer speakers, but definitely not to a pumping stereo system.

So we have established that the Bluetooth functionality is top-notch, but the audio is not really the most impressive aspect. One great feature though is the fact that they are wireless speakers. Each speaker has its own power plug, so all you have to do is plug each speaker in and you are good to go. This allows you to separate them any way you want.

A line-input is also featured on the speakers if you want to connect an iPod or something of that nature. Another notable feature is the grills on the speakers, which stay on magnetically allowing for easy access if you want to show off the internals of the sound system, clean them, etc.

So what do we get out of all of this? What we get basically is that Parrot has put out exactly what they have advertised. If you are looking for a pair of Bluetooth speakers for your office, kitchen, or some other location that doesn’t need top-notch audio, these are a great choice. If you are a real audio nut though these may not be the speakers for you. Personally though we are big fans of them at the dbTechno office. It’s nice to be able to hit the music on your phone from anywhere and have it play without any wires.

Final Score: 8.2
