Square Enix Chooses Nintendo Over PS3 and Xbox 360

April 15, 2007

Square Enix has come out and stated that the Nintendo DS handheld is dominating over all consoles including the PS3 and Xbox 360Boston (dBTechno) - Square Enix has come out and stated that the Nintendo DS handheld is dominating over all consoles including the PS3 and Xbox 360.

This is backed up by the fact that the next installment to the Dragon Quest series will be an exclusive game to the Nintendo DS platform.

The past Dragon Quest games appeared on the PlayStation as well as the PlayStation 2.

Square Enix stated though that they chose the Nintendo DS due to its massive installed user base.

They continued by saying that “There is a new breed of gamers in the market - we have to make games for all kinds of people. In the old days we could just focus on the PlayStation or the Game Boy, but the environment has changed completely.”

Changed it has as they stated that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 does not have the demographic for their games. “there are too many specs and you also need a high-definition TV, broadband connection, and a deep knowledge of gaming - these consles are mismatched to today’s environment.”

Square may be choosing the handhelds for now, but they did state that in the future the PS3 and Xbox 360 may do better.
