Sony PSP GPS and Camera To Hit U.S. In 2008
January 8, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - Sony has confirmed that the PSP will receive GPS and Camera accessories which will be released in North America by the time the holiday shopping season of 2008 rolls around. They also confirmed a keyboard will be released on the PSP in 2009.
In Japan, Sony released the Sony PSP camera as well as GPS receiver a few months back. It was a major hit in Japan as many were using the PSP to take photos and navigate, more than Sony even expected. Sony then expanded this to Europe in 2006.
The only one left out was the U.S. and the rest of North America, but that is all about to change. North American gamers will be able to pick up the GPS and camera for the PSP in 2008.
The announcement came from the Consumer Electronics Show as it was confirmed that they would be released in 2008. There was no specific date given though nor was there any confirmation on the price of the PSP camera of GPS add-ons.
Sony is also working on a first-party keyboard which will be released for the PSP by the middle of 2009. Sony stated that they are still looking over final designs of the keyboard so it is not known yet which way they will go.
