World of Warcraft Reaches 10 Million Subscribers
January 23, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - Many stated that it could not be done, but the behemoth that is World of Warcraft just keeps growing as Blizzard has revealed that the game has now topped 10 million subscribers.
This is a huge milestone for an MMORPG as 10 million subscribers on a global scale shows the immense international popularity that the game has created.
Blizzard attributed the 10 million subscriber mark to Europe as they stated that they pushed it over with two million players. There are also two and a half million in the U.S. and five and a half million in Asia.
Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime stated tha it is “very gratifying.”
“We’re always pleased to welcome new players to the game, and we’re looking forward to sharing the next major content update with the entire community in the months ahead.”
A second expansion pack is in the world for World of Warcraft called Wrath of the Lich King, and will raise the level cap to 80, introduce the new Deathknight character class, and more.
At this rate, all you can really say is WoW.
