GameStop Confirms Existence of 120GB PS3
January 31, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - It is no longer a rumor that Sony is getting ready to bring out a 120GB PS3. This is thanks to a GameStop conference call which confirmed that Sony will be dropping the 80GB PS3 and replacing it with the 120GB model with a Dual Shock 3 controller packed in.
It has been rumored all week now that Sony would be dropping the 80GB PS3 at retail and replacing it with either a 120GB or 160GB model, with a Dual Shock 3 controller packed in.
A GameStop conference call has confirmed this as it has been noted that the 80GB PS3 is no longer being produced by Sony.
Our source at GameStop was quoted as saying “I have been hearing rumors all week, but I never expected it to be confirmed like this!”
The call stated that the unit would be replaced by a 120GB PS3 model which would have a Dual Shock 3 controller packed in.
There is no official launch date for the 120GB PS3 as of yet, nor is there any price point for it.
The expectation though is that since 80GB PS3 consoles are no longer in production, they will likely ship with the same price point as the 80GB PS3 within a month or so.
