Mass Effect To Release On PC May 2008

Washington (dbTechno) - Mass Effect will no longer be just an exclusive game to the Microsoft Xbox 360. Electronic Warts has struck a deal with Microsoft to release the Bioware developed game Mass Effect on the PC in May 2008.
Mass Effect is being published by EA and completely re-designed for the PC. Read more
EA Gives Spore Official Release Date

Washington (dbTechno) - Electronic Arts has given Spore an official release date. The Will Wright game, which has been highly-anticipated for a good three years now, has been named by EA to hit store shelves on September 7, 2008 for the Mac, PC, and Nintendo DS.
Will Wright, who brought us the likes of SimCity and The Sims stated “The wait is almost over. We’re in our final stages of testing and polish with Spore, and the team at Maxis can’t wait to see the cosmos of content created by the community later this year.” Read more
EA Sports Extends Exclusive NFL License Until 2013

New York (dbTechno) - For those curious about the future of Madden football from EA Sports and the NFL license, EA Sports extended their exclusive licensing agreement for three more years. EA Sports now has the NFL license wrapped up until at least 2013, killing any chance of a comeback from 2K Sports and the NFL 2K series, or any other potential competition to the juggernaut that is Madden.

Xbox 360 Is Lead Platform For EA’s Army of Two

Washington (dbTechno) - An assistant producer for Army of Two from EA, Matt Turner, has stated that the Xbox 360 is the lead platform for the game, and that it was then ported over to the Sony PS3.
Army of Two assistant producer Matt Turner stated that after they developed Army of Two on the Microsoft Xbox 360, they then took the game and basically ported it over to the PS3. Read more
Best Buy Chooses Blu-ray Over HD DVD

Boston (dbTechno) - Just one day after Netflix announced that they would exclusively support the Blu-ray format, Best Buy has also stated that they will support the high-def Blu-ray format over the rival HD DVD format. This impacts not only movie sales, but could impact video game sales as well as the Xbox 360 supports an add-on HD DVD drive, while the Sony PS3 has a Blu-ray player built in.
Best Buy has stated that they will be recommending Blu-ray as the preferred format to customers from this point forward. Read more
Xbox 360 Version of Devil May Cry 4 Dominates In UK

Hannah Montana Video Games Coming To Wii and DS

London (dbTechno) - Disney Interactive Studios has announced the launch of two new music-based games around the popular series Hannah Montana, played by real-life pop singer Miley Cyrus. The games will release on the Nintendo DS, Wii, and Sony PS2.
The first two releases will be Hannah Montana: Music Jam on the Nintendo DS and Hannah Montana: Spotlight World Tour on the Nintendo Wii. These two games will be released on April 25, 2008. Read more
FOX Suggests Mass Effect Is “Porn,” Target Pulls It From Shelves

Boston (dbTechno) - Following the report from FOX News report which suggested that Mass Effect, the video game of the year in the eyes of many on the Xbox 360, contained porn elements to it, Target has pulled the game from its shelves.
The report coming from U.S. retailer Target is that they are now too scared to sell the Xbox 360 game Mass Effect due to the reports of porn within the game by FOX News. Read more
Marvel Universe Online MMO Canceled

Washington (dbTechno) - Microsoft Game Studio’s head Shane Kim has announced that the MMO based on the Marvel Comics universe, Marvel Universe Online, has been canceled.
Cryptic Studios was the developer but the game was confirmed to be canned by Kim when he stated in an interview with MTV Multiplayer “I’ll confirm, Marvel and we have agreed to end development on the MMO. It was an amicable decision, for us and for them, it would be better if we ended development. Which is disappointing, because that had a lot of promise. But sometimes you have to make these decisions.” Read more
