New York (dbTechno) - For those curious about the future of Madden football from EA Sports and the NFL license, EA Sports extended their exclusive licensing agreement for three more years. EA Sports now has the NFL license wrapped up until at least 2013, killing any chance of a comeback from 2K Sports and the NFL 2K series, or any other potential competition to the juggernaut that is Madden.
The Wall Street Journal has revealed that EA Sports and the NFL have extended their exclusive licensing agreement for another three years.
EA Sports now has the NFL license wrapped up until at least 2013.
The official announcement from EA Sports and the NFL will be made later in the day on Tuesday.
This means that Madden will be able to continue as Madden NFL until at least Madden NFL 2013.
Madden is always one of the biggest releases of the year and has proven to be a huge cash cow for EA Sports, becoming an integral part of the video game release schedule every August, and it will continue for the forseeable future.

Such a bad move by the NFL. For all its excellent deal management, the games dealings have been a stinker. Supporting an exclusive deal just kills innovation. Madden is a great game, but every improvement only adds to the game’s insane complexity. Now, it’s almost impossible for a new player to get into the game without a massive time investment learning menus, plays, timing, and a two-stick, six-button, two-trigger action system.
r u kidding me? this is an outrage!!!! what ever happened to the monopoly laws? have they just been thrown out the window? football gamers should protest this farce. ea should not be able to do this!!! FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHTS 2K FANS!!!
