PS3 Lost Planet Load Times Are Lightning After 5GB Install

The good thing about this though is that the PS3 game has lightning fast load-times following the installation.

The 5GB install that Capcom put on Lost Planet: Extreme Condition has been receiving quite a bit of negative press. We have been fortunate enough though to have received a pre-release copy of Lost Planet from Capcom, and have the pleasure to report that the 5GB install is well worth it.

This is very similar to what they did with Devil May Cry 4 on the PS3, requiring the long install which took up to twenty-minutes for many to complete.

Once you complete the install, which took us around fifteen-minutes, the load times were pretty much non-existent throughout the majority of the game that we have played. It was a bit tedious to wait at the start, but once that installation was done, the load times were lightning fast.

The 5GB install clearly cuts load times drastically in the long run, so that twenty-minutes you wait at the start is twenty-minutes of load times you get to skip out on in the end.

Capcom is seemingly going to be taking this route with future titles as well.

I don’t particularly mind waitin for it to install if it cuts load times down, each game which has given me the option to install data i have done anyway so makes little difference to me.

the less loading times there is the better the whole gaming experience is. If I have to wait 20 mins for the install, but when I play the game I dont have to wait again, then thats the way to go, its more immersing.

What happens when you don’t have enough room left on your Hard Drive to install anymore of your games? Delete the space for an old one and if you want to play it again you’ll have to repeat the process? It should be an optional install and leave it for the user to decide.
