Super Smash Bros. Brawl Delayed Until Fall ‘08 In Europe
February 25, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - The president of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime, stated that Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the highly-anticipated fighter which released on the Wii in Japan in January, and will hit North America next month, will not release in Europe until Fall 2008.
Reggie stated to 1UP that Europe will not get Super Smash Bros. Brawl until the fall at the very earliest.
This is rough news for Wii owners in Europe.
He stated that the delay in Europe is due to production problems.
In order for them to release it in Europe earlier, Reggie stated that Nintendo would have to open new factories to set up disc duplication to meet the demand, which apparently is not possible for Nintendo.
He stated that in the long run it would prove too costly for Nintendo and would not be worth the money spent.
European Wii owners are sure to be very disgruntled by this news as the game shipped in Japan a full month ago, and will also ship in North America in a matter of weeks.
So now the question is asked, why do production problems cause European Wii owners to have to wait a full 6 months after Japan and North America to get Smash Bros.?
Correction To Story:
1UP.com has since updated their story. Apparently neither Nintendo, nor Reggie Fils-Aime gave any type of release date for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, making the above story completely false as of right now. There has not been any release date announced for Super Smash Bros. Brawl in Europe.
The full correction can be read by going here, we apologize to Nintendo and our readers for the incorrect news story… http://www.1up.com/do/my1Up?publicUserId=1002415

What?! WHY?! I mean, I know I live in the U.S., but this just pisses me off to hear this. WHY?! It doesn’t take that many months to produce the games needed for the PAL region. Come on. Whats the deal here? What do they hope to accomplish, a riot?
I just think Nintendo’s decision making skills are just diminishing year by year. Either that, or they’re just getting greedier and greedier. What happened to solid release dates? Are they all but non-existent?
Furthermore, what does this mean for the U.S.? Are we going to get delayed until the summer? I just think that if they keep delaying it so much and to this extent, the only thing they’re going to accomplish is turning customers off, and yes, some customers do turn down companies for this kind of crap.
