No Typing Allowed In Text Chat For Mario Kart Wii

This confirmed that the game would not feature voice chat for its online play. New reports though state that the text chat of Mario Kart Wii will only consist of pre-determined phrases you can use, with no typing allowed!

Nintendo of America broke the news to IGN, stating that Wii owners will not be able to type in whatever text they desire with the help of a USB keyboard.

Instead they are going to be forced to select from pre-determined phrases which will already be stored in the game.

Those hoping to hook up a USB keyboard and chat away with your friends in Mario Kart Wii online are surely going to be disappointed.

Nintendo has always played the safe card when it comes to online, restricting chatting as much as possible in the majority of its games.

This is the type of move though that will likely shake the fan-base a bit as the online component of Mario Kart Wii is a big selling point for Nintendo.

With players unable to truly chat before setting up matches and groups, things could get quite tedious online on the Wii.

Those hoping to do some real trash-talking with the keyboard will be constrained to choose from the phrases already in place.
