One of the biggest pains in regards to the Sony PS3 is the fact that, unless you buy some sort of adapter, the only way to charge your SIXAXIS controller is through a USB cord, causing you to keep your PS3 on at all times while charging. Nyko has come out with a solution to this with the Charge Station 2.
The Charge Station 2 is the second attempt from Nyko to come out with a peripheral to charge your PS3 controllers. This new Charge Base 2 allows users to charge up to 2 PS3 controllers at once through its nicely designed base.
The way it works is that the Charge Base 2 comes with two plastic adapter dongles which attach to the SIXAXIS. These are basically mini-USB adapters as they plug into the port on the PS3 controller, and then the contacts coming off of the adapter, hook up with the charging base.
The controllers rest nicely in an upside-down position while charging.
You will quickly know when they are done to thanks to the indicator lights toward the front of the charging base.
The dongles do not have to stay permanently hooked into the PS3 SIXAXIS controller, but there is really no need to take them out either. They look nice, they are tiny, and completely secure.
The thing is a true breeze to use as all you have to do is plug the Charge Base 2 into the wall, and you can just drop your PS3 controllers into it after each play session.
If you are the type to completely drain your batteries before recharging, the Charge Base 2 makes for a very fast recharge as you will be ready to go again in no time.
The Charge Base 2 is appropriately priced at $29.99 and is a nice addition to the set-up of any PS3 owner. It is nice looking and will fit perfectly in your gaming set-up, allowing a safe and secure resting place for your two PS3 controllers when you are not using them. It is definitely better than having to plug in a USB cable to your PS3 every time you want to recharge the controllers!

I’ve never complained about having to charge my controllers….in fact, my PS3 is always on…so it’s not a big deal either way.

Wont the ps3 be on anyway if your using the controller so just plug it in and keep playing. I plug my second controller in to charge when I’m playing with the first one, its a much better system than changing batteries like I have to with my wii.
