Wii Continues To Widen Sales Gap From PS3 In Japan
February 29, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - The Nintendo Wii game console managed to outsell the Sony PlayStation 3 console by a ratio of 4 to 1 in Japan. The sales of the Wii over the PS3 were helped along with the release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl in Japan, as the February sales have Nintendo smiling from ear to ear.
The game magazine publisher Enterbrain put out the results, stating that Nintendo sold 331,627 units of the Wii in the four weeks to February 24.
This compares to only 89,131 units of the PS3 sold to date.
This is a continuing trend for Nintendo as they, on a monthly basis now, are widening the gap between the Wii and the PS3.
January sales in Japan had the Wii outselling the PS3 at a ratio of about 3 to 1.
The big game for the Wii was Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which has already sold 1.33 million units in Japan.
It was also helped along with sales of Wii Fit, which sold another 309,311 units in February.
The Xbox 360 managed to sell a slim 14,079 units for the month.

Yes yes yes, this is hardly news when it happens every week. Especially given that SSBB was released what, 2 weeks ago? Seriously, are we surprised? If the numbers look the same when GT5P and MGS4 and LBP and Home hit, then there are problems, but until then, I pay no mind.
