Sony PSP Tops Wii and DS Hardware Sales In Japan

The Sony PSP jumped to the top of the sales charts for last week in Japan, beating out both the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS.  The increased success was likely due to the release of the mint green PSP.Tokyo (dbTechno) - The Sony PSP jumped to the top of the sales charts for last week in Japan, beating out both the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. The increased success was likely due to the release of the mint green PSP.

The mint green PSP in Japan led to quite a big sales increase over the previous week of hardware sales.

According to the latest Japanese hardware sales chart, the Sony PSP stands above all, including the Nintendo Wii and DS.

At the bottom of the chart is the Xbox 360, which was outsold by the Sony PS2 at a ratio of almost 5 to 1 last week.

1. Sony PSP - 73,806
2. Nintendo Wii - 64,535
3. Nintendo DS - 51,922
4. Sony PS3 - 13,520
5. Sony PS2 - 10,986
6. Microsoft Xbox 360 - 2,282

    DS’s minimal sales are caused by the fact that all Japanese people already have a DS. But what the hell happened to Wii?
