Microsoft Smacks Down Xbox Live Cheaters
March 26, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - Microsoft has smacked down Xbox 360 owners who cheat over Xbox Live. Microsoft has completely erased the Gamerscore of anyone who used an exploit gain Achievements.
Achievements are a very popular thing over Xbox Live and among Xbxo 360 gamers.
Your Gamerscore tells the world what you have accomplished in games.
Xbox Live Community Manager Larry Hyrb stated “Today we took action on some of the accounts we have identified as the most serious offenders who have violated the Xbox LIVE Terms of Use by tampering with their Gamerscore and Achievements.”
Xbox Live accounts have been linked to cheating to help with their Gamerscore through using game save files and other tactics.
Once the account of these gamers is set to a Gamescore of zero, they will be unable to earn all of those Achievements, meaning they have basically been banned from earning them.
They will be able to earn future Achievements.
Microsoft will also embarass the cheaters in a sense by putting a label with their GamerTag, stating that they are cheaters.

great idea. this is one of the benefits of xbox live over PSN. Control. MS is much nicer than i would have been. I simply would have banned the account thus wasting $50 of the cheater’s money. (then again, some may be using the free xbox live cards). Either way, great idea.
no it just means microsoft users like 2 cheat which is 1 of d many reasons i dont have a 360 and psn does ban cheaters btw
psn has cheaters too…the problem is the userbase is so small compared to xbox live, they’re harder to spot.
