MS Working With Lite-On For Blu-ray On Xbox 360
April 2, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - According to sources, Microsoft is working with drive manufacturer Lite-On to bring Blu-ray to the Xbox 360 before the holiday shopping season in 2008.
Lite-On is apparently the manufacturer Microsoft has teamed up with for the new Blu-ray drives for the Xbox 360.
It has been rumored for months that Microsoft was working on a Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360, but no confirmation would ever come out of it.
The only confirmation was that Microsoft stated they would follow what the consumer wanted after the death of the HD DVD format.
Reports though have stated that Lite-On will begin to ship out the Blu-ray drives to Microsoft in the second half of 2008, likely to get them out before the holiday shopping season in 2008.
Lite-On is the same company Microsoft uses for internal DVD-ROM drives in the Xbox 360.
There is no word if the drives will be internal or an external add-on drive.
