New Nintendo DS To Feature Mii Integration With Wii
April 14, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - Sources state that the new version of the Nintendo DS to be revealed at E3 2008 will feature Mii integration with the Nintendo Wii console, as well as other features.
It was reported on earlier today Nintendo is getting ready to unveil a brand new Nintendo DS at E3 2008 in July.
Sources are beginning to reveal further information in regards to what the new handheld could feature.
The most likely add-on will be Mii integratioin with the new Nintendo DS. This means that users will be able to create a Mii on the Wii or DS, and then have that Mii go back and forth between the two consoles.
This could allow Nintendo to create something along the lines of the PlayStation Network or Xbox Live where users can have their Mii act as their user name for online games via the Nintendo WiFi Connection.
We have already begun to see the Mii characters used in online games with Mario Kart Wii.
The Mii characters are also rumored to be involved in a new version of Pictochat, which will enable chat over a WiFi connection.
The new Nintendo DS and Wii may also be able to share messages of text, pictures, etc. Currently users can send messages from one Wii to another Wii. This could expand by sharing messages from the DS to the Wii.

I call bull on this… at least until if and when it shows up at the actual event.
Until that happens, nothing further needs to be said about it. This is just “rumor and speculation” as I can predict as reason for an expected “no comment” — and should be treated as such for the current time, so ingest this with a proverbial seasoning layer of salt until further notice.
These are all features that won’t show up until the DS 2 or whatever they call it. The new DS will simply be a larger screen, even more compact, better speakers, or whatever. I wouldn’t expect anything mind blowing just yet. The current DS still sells hundreds of thousands of units a month. Why would they release this so soon?
