Retired Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre has been confirmed as the cover athlete for the upcoming EA Sports Madden NFL 09. Brett Favre is known as one of the greatest NFL quarterbacks of all time.

He holds many records in the NFL, including most consecutive starts by an NFL quarterback at 253.

He also has the most career passing touchdowns at 443, and most career passing yards at 61,655.

Brett Favre nearly led the Green Bay Packers to the Superbowl this past NFL season, falling just short.

Following the season Favre announced that he would retire.

This is a true honor for Favre as he will grace the Madden cover as a retired athlete.
