Microsoft Gets Aggressive, Cuts Xbox 360 Price In Asia
April 29, 2008
New York (dbTechno) - It is clear that Microsoft is starting to get a lot more aggressive in the Asian market. They have announced that they will be cutting the price of the Xbox 360 in Asia anywhere from 5% to 20% in four of the five regional markets.
The Xbox 360 has sold very well in every part of the world for the most part, except Asia. Asia is one of the last locations where the Xbox 360 has yet to do very well, and Microsoft is hoping to reverse those fortunes.
The company has announced that they will be dropping the price in Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan. The only market that will not get a price cut is India.
The biggest price drop is taking place in Singapore where the price will drop by 19.5%.
Taiwan will see a 17% price drop, while Hong Kong will get an 11% price drop, with South Korea getting a 5% price cut.
The prices will go into effect on Tuesday.
Microsoft is hoping that these price cuts will turn into more sales for their Xbox 360 in the Asian markets, just as they have done in North America and Europe.
The Xbox 360 has fallen to third in worldwide shipments, with Asia being a major market it needs to continue to truly compete on a global scale.
