Soul Calibur IV Running Better On Xbox 360 Than PS3

May 28, 2008

It appears that Soul Calibur IV is currently running much smoother on the Xbox 360 compared to the Sony PS3 version of the game from Capcom.<br /> .Washington (dbTechno) - It appears that Soul Calibur IV is currently running much smoother on the Xbox 360 compared to the Sony PS3 version of the game from Namco.

The report comes from IGN UK which stated that a recent demo revealed that the PS3 version of the game had some “significant slowdown.”

It appears that the PS3 version of the game is running into a lot of problems with the framerate and keeping a smooth fighting experience, which is key for a successfful fighter.

The Xbox 360 version on the other hand is apparently running perfectly thus far.

We will have to wait and see how much changes before the official release.

Link? I can’t seem to find mention of this report let alone the actual thing anywhere else.

Oh no, i can sense a wave of Sony fanboys getting ready to brand Capcom lazy developers and IGN a Xbot fan site.
The truth is the PS3 architecture is a challenge and getting parity between multi format games be they the lead platform or not requires more time and effort on Sonys hardware.
The PS3’s software tools will get better over time but so will the 360’s so there will always be a gap in dev time, though it will be reduced to maybe a few months.
Meanwhile Sony fanboys will blame devs when a simultaneous release sees their framerate or resolution suffers slightly and 360 fanboys will blame the PS3 when multi platform games get delayed to be on par.
I’ve spoken to my brother in-law who is a dev at a fairly large software house about this and he says that ideally they would release each version when ready but that with the amount of PR spin put on timed exclusives and their wish to remain an unbiased developer, they are under pressure to release both games simultaneously and with little to no differences and that usually leads to delays.
Both systems have their pros and cons and will be here for the next 5 years at least so i suggest fanboys stop their bickering and save their anger for the devs that release shovelware and poor movie tie-ins without a decent game behind them.
