Blizzard Officially Announces Diablo III, Plans Worldwide Release

Washington (dbTechno) - Blizzard has a major announcement to make at the 2008 Worldwide Invitational, as the company revealed that Diablo III is in the works!
The announcement was made by Mike Morhaime during the opening ceremonies of the event. Diablo is one of the most popular action RPG franchises in history, and a new entry is in development for the PC and Mac.
Heading into the event, the hype was at an all-time high for Blizzard fans as many were speculating about what would be announced. This will be the first new release in the Diablo franchise since DIablo II, which launched 8 years ago.
He stated that Blizzard has a very special announcement to make. With that, the lights went down, and a guitar player came on stage.
From there, the DIablo overworld theme began to play, followed by a trailer.
The game will run with a customized version of the Havok physics engine, and the multiplayer will run off of Battle.net, Blizzard’s online service which launched in 1997.
The lead designer of the game, Jay Wilson, later took the stage to demo the game. Thus, Diablo III is born, and Blizzard fans can celebrate.
In typical Blizzard fashion, no release date was announced, but they are planning a simultaneous worldwide launch.
