June 30, 2008

Harmonix has announced that they will release a sequel to the hit video game Rock Band this year. Rock Band 2 will release on the Xbox 360 this September, followed by a release on the Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii at a later date..Washington (dbTechno) - Harmonix has announced that they will release a sequel to the hit video game Rock Band this year. Rock Band 2 will release on the Xbox 360 this September, followed by a release on the Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii at a later date.

The company confirmed that Rock Band 2 will be fully compatible with all of the existing Rock Band instruments, as well as all of the original Rock Band downloadable content.

This means that your drum set, microphone, guitar, and all of those songs you have purchased will carry right over into Rock Band 2.

This does not mean that everything will be the same though, as Harmonix is planning a bundled version which will come with upgraded versions of the instruments.

The number of songs included in Rock Band 2, according to reports, could reach 300.

All of the future downloadable content will also continue to work on both the original Rock Band, as well as Rock Band 2.

There is no word yet as to if downloadable content will come to the Nintendo Wii version of Rock Band 2.

The confirmation from Harmonix was made to IGN in an interview.
