MLB Superstars
Wii Review
Developer: Deep Fried Entertainment
Publisher: 2K Sports
Released: November 10, 2008
2K Sports has put in an attempt to try and capitalize on the MLB license with MLB Superstars on the Nintendo Wii, a collection of mini-games.
We have seen plenty of these mini-game collections, and this one is no different with the only exception being that it has the Major League Baseball tag pasted on it.
This is not a game of baseball by any means, instead you will be playing a collection of mini-games as major league players.
You can play with up to four players at once as you take part in these mini-games, which range from a total of six in all.
There are some decent mini-games here, but none really manage to stand above the rest as must-have experiences.
The mini-games include Wall O’ Bricks, Mascot Dance, Bocce, Pachinko, and Golf.
The majority of these mini-games actually play about the same as they rely on a Wii Remote to do all of the movements necessary.
Some of these game modes are actually pretty fun, such as the mascot dancing and such as they use the MLB license in a way that gives it a very different feel other than just being a baseball game.
This is both a good and a bad thing as there clearly could have been more than six mini-games tacked on this disc.
The only positive to this release really is the fact that it has a value price of under $20. Beyond that though, there really is not much bang for your buck.
If you have a young gamer, and I mean under the age of 10 who loves baseball, this for under $20 this may be worth a look. I am disappointed though at the lack of depth in the title, as it almost feels incomplete.
Graphics: 5.0 Very lackluster graphics, nothing to be impressed with.
Audio: 5.0 Same as with the visuals, uninspired.
Gameplay: 6.5 Easily accessible for all-ages, not enough depth though.
Replay Value: 4.0 Just the six mini-games and only a few things to unlock, blah.
Final Score: 5.5
