Beatles: Rock Band not as Popular for Gamers

October 20, 2009

It is being reported that although The Beatles: Rock Band sold more than 595,000 units in September, analysts are questioning its staying power
Boston (DbTechNo) - It is being reported that although The Beatles: Rock Band sold more than 595,000 units in September, analysts are questioning its staying power.

The game is made by Viacom Inc who hoped that it would dominate video game sales, a fact that has just not happened.

Sales better pick up however, as Viacom have promised $10 million to all the various rights holders whose permission was needed before the game could be created.

The game did outsell 2007’s Rock Band and 2008’s Rock Band 2, but was nowhere close to topping record sales for the overall genre.

Leading analysts had pegged that for the month of September, more than 1 million units would be sold, but now are questioning their predictions.

For example, during the first 6 days after Guitar Hero III was released, more than 1 million units of the game were sold.

The top selling game in September was Halo 3: ODST, which sold 1.5 million units.
