Japanese RPG fans can rejoice with the release of MagnaCarta 2, as it certainly showcases some fantastic visual flair, mixed with some enjoyable gameplay that is very strategy-driven.
MagnaCarta 2 is an enjoyable Japanese RPG that is based in a world that features some amazing environments to say the very least.
I was floored with the visual presentation of this game, especially with the character models, whch are about as good as you can get out there right now with games. The way inw hich the little details were done on the clothing, texture work, colors, animations, etc. are all absolutely grade-A stuff.
The environments are equally as impressive, as they are wide in terms of their variety as some are highly-colorful and vibrant, while others can come across as extremely dark and gritty. This keeps things fresh as you really get to experience this entire world from top to bottom.
The game is set in this world where you are thrown into huge battlegrounds, villages, etc. Here, you will do all of the usual flair of building up your party of 3 characters, and trying to save the day.
This is one long game, as it will take you well over 40-hours to actually get to play through the entire thing.
I have never been a huge fan of this syle of gameplay, but this one was appealing to me as it was a good mix of turn-based action and real-time action in terms of its battle system.
You can quickly jump into battles with this system with the push of a button, and once you do, you better be ready to be on the edge of your seat, as this game will grab a hold of you and not let go.
The battle system is certainly the best aspect of this game, as the story will not really intrigue you, nor with some of the enemies and such you will be facing.
MagnaCarta 2 is enjoyable as fans of JRPGs will have a good time here, as it does a good job of keeping things fresh with its enjoyable battle system and great visuals. If you are looking for a good RPG with a fun battle system, this is a good one to check out even if it is far from perfect.
Graphics: 8.4 A great-looking game with fantastic environments and character models.
Sound: 6.5 Meh. nothing that will really stick out here, music gets the job done.
Gameplay: 8.0 A lot of fun to be had with the gameplay, fun combat system.
Replay Value: 7.5 It is certainly long, and if you can get into it, it will last awhile.
Final Score: 7.9
