Boston (dbTechno) – New research has shown that with the increase in child obesity, the risk for high blood pressure in kids has grown as well and is often overlooked.
Findings from a study have found that many doctors overlook high blood pressure in kids as in the past it was not something that was as common.
David C. Kaelber of Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard, as well as colleagues made the report in the August 22nd issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.
They stated that “these conditions appear to be frequently undiagnosed by pediatric clinicians.” They stated that it is very important to diagnose high blood pressure early on to try and establish guidelines to prevent future more serious problems which can rise from it. Effective treatment is a must, especially with the growing problem of child obesity.
Over 14,000 patients were looked at between the ages of 3 and 18. They found that far too often the kids with high blood pressure went undiagnosed.
