Daily Sex Is Good For Sperm
October 16, 2007

Boston (dBTechno) - Finally, researchers release a study that actually sounds promising.
According Australian researchers, men who have sex on a daily basis have healthier sperm.
Previous research indicated that in order to increase potency, males should perhaps take a break from the bedroom for a few days. However the new research suggests that sex on a daily basis could mean that the sperm DNA is less likely to be damaged.
The study examined 42 men. Sperm was taken from the men on a daily basis then compared to samples taken from them after days of “rest”.
Researchers discovered a 12 percent decrease in damaged sperm when the men ejaculated once a day.
Dr Greening, who presented his results at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine conference in Washington yesterday, said: “I’m convinced that ejaculating more frequently, ie daily, improves sperm DNA damage in most men by a decent amount.
“Prior to IVF, for example, men are abstaining a lot more than normal and perhaps sperm DNA increases more than usual. Men think if they abstain for longer times before, say, ovulation that their sperm will be better. [There may be] more volume and numbers but DNA damage may increase.”
Allan Pacey, a senior lecturer in andrology at the University of Sheffield, said, “This research shows that when you put people on a daily ejaculation regime, it reduces the figure for DNA damage.”
“If you can go from 30% to 20% that is quite a big shift and that should have some implications for fertility.”
A 2003 study by Australian researchers found that men could reduce their risk of prostate cancer by masturbating more frequently. Scientists believe that ejaculating can release a build-up of cancer causing chemicals in the prostate.
