ABC Autism Drama To Air Despite Protest By Doctors
January 29, 2008
Hollywood (dbTechno) - ABC has come out and stated that they will air the first episode of the debut show, Eli Stone, which places a link between autism and childhood vaccines. Doctors have protested the show and asked for it to be banned from going on the air.
ABC has stated that they are going to air the debut episode of Eli Stone, but with a disclaimer at the start which states right before the show starts that basically, the plot line is not true. They also give an address to a government web site where the data is shown to make no link between the two.
ABC will present the notice before the show airs which states “The following story is fictional and does not portray any actual persons, companies, products or events.”
It will also be stated in the form of a voice-over.
A link will be given to the autism site for the Center for Disease Control as well.
The American Academy of Pediatrics have called for ABC to cancel the opening episode of the new series, Eli Stone.
The show is set to air on Thursday night in the 10 p.m. timeslot. ABC stated though that they will air the show.
Dr. Renee R. Jenkins sent a letter to ABC executives last Friday stating the show “could lead to a tragic decline in immunization rates.”
Jenkins is the president of the pediatrics academy.
