Exercise Helps Keep Your DNA Young

A new study was published on Mnoday which reveals that exercise helps keep people to have younger DNA comapred to people who get older without exerciseBoston (dbTechno) – A new study was published on Mnoday which reveals that exercise helps keep people to have younger DNA comapred to people who get older without exercise.

The authors of the study looked at the ends of DNA strands. These ends keep DNA in chromosomes from coming apart.

Research in the past has shown that the older people are, the shorter their ends are.

Emmanuel Skordalakes, researcher from the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia stated that to prevent this from happening, there are things that can be done. He stated what happens is “Your body shuts down more and mroe cells every day and you become old.” This is linked directly to how people age.

Researchers were able to find that people who did a normal amount of exercise, around 100 minutes per week of activities which include swimming, running, or tennis, were able to keep their DNA ends looking six years younger than those who did only around 15 minutes of exercise per week.

Those who did the most exercise were around nine years younger in terms of their DNA.

Stephen Coles of the University of California at Los Angeles called it “another jigsaw piece in trying to understand why exercise is important in longevity.”
