Sacramento (dbTechno) – The work of California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez to try and put in place a $14.7 billion plan for a new health care system in the state of California has failed as it was voted down on Monday.
The state Senate committee would not pass the bill, which was getting a lot of opposition thrown its way the weeks leading up to this vote.
The new health care bill was able to pass the state Assembly back in December and was supposed to go to California voters on a ballot in November, this did not happen though.
The State Health Committee rejected the plan in a 7 – 1 vote.
The plan would have covered 70% of the over 5 million uninsured people in the state of California.
Gov. Schwarzenegger stated afterwards, “I am someone who does not give up, especially when there is a problem as big and as serious as health care that needs to be fixed.”
