January 29, 2008

A new study has revealed that a person who does quite a bit of snoring has an increased risk to develop chronic bronchitisHollywood (dbTechno) - A new study has revealed that a person who does quite a bit of snoring has an increased risk to develop chronic bronchitis.

Chronic bronchitis is a cough which can last for weeks and keep coming back in a recurring form throughout several years.

Inkyung Baik of Korea University Ansan Hospital led the study in South Korea and found that people who snore regularly have a 25% to 68% increased change of developing chronic bronchitis.

This was compared directly to people who did not snore at all.

The author stated “Our findings may provide novel information that snores are at greater risk of developing chronic bronchitis than persons who do not snore during sleep.”

They looked at over 4,000 individuals in Korea to come up with their results.

Those who snored five times a week or less had a 25% increased risk of chronic bronchitis. Those who snored six to seven times per week had a 68% increased risk.
