Under Tongue Flu Vaccine To Replace Need For Shots
January 29, 2008
Beijing (dbTechno) - A new study from South Korea has revealed that a new way to administer the flu vaccine, under the tongue, may be more effective than injecting the flu vaccine drug.
The belief is that it will be the most effective manner in which people will be able to get the flu vaccine and stay protected.
Cecil Czerkinsky of Seuol National University stated that the base of the mouth “is a very good absorbent and competent tissue.”
It does a great job of taking in the vaccine and getting an immune response out of it.
The way in which you do it is you hold the vaccine in the base of the mouth for 30 seconds.
Scientists found that in studies with mice, it was safer and more effective than the normal injection with a needle.
The report has been published in the journal the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
