February 14, 2008

Doctors have been able to prove that the link between the popular cholesterol statin drug Lipitor and memory loss is simply not true. This goes against previous research which argued otherwise. One doctor even stated that the drug Washington (dbTechno) - Doctors have been able to prove that the link between the popular cholesterol statin drug Lipitor and memory loss is simply not true. This goes against previous research which argued otherwise. One doctor even stated that the drug “makes woman stupid.”

Dr. Orli Etingin, vice chairman of medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital, was quoted as stating “This drug makes women stupid,” when talking about the drug Lipitor.

Etingin also stated that many patients have reported memory loss after the drug was taken.

Lipitor is a drug which is taken by 18 million people. There is no such thing as memory loss being linked as side effect to the drug.

Pfizer, the maker of the drug, stated that less than 2% of Lipitor users reported a memory loss side effect.

Research has not been able to link memory loss directly to Lipitor as a cause either according to their research.

Dr. James Stein of the University of Wisconsin in Madison, stated that it could be an effect where patients believe that it is taking place because of the drug, but it really is not, similar to a placebo effect.
