This is the 12th case since the disease was first confirmed in Canada in 2003, and the second in the last 60 days.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency confirmed the case of mad cow disease. They stated that none of the beef from the cow will spread as it was not consumed by any other human or animal.

The case was detected in Alberta, Canada.

Canada has been trying to fully eliminate the disease from its cows but has been having a hard time as this is the second case to pop up in the last two months.

In 2003, the U.S. suspended all cattle imports from Canada due to the mad cow disease.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Deputy Secretary Chuck Conner stated that the latest case in Canada will have no impact on beef trade with the U.S.

Eating meat from cattle infected with mad cow disease can lead to a fatal illness.
