Reports are that he has already gone through chemotherapy, and now unfortunately only has weeks to live.

Swayze is best known for his roles in Dirty Dancing, as well as other films such as Ghost.

The National Enquirer reported that 55-year-old Swayze has been diagnosed and was diagnosed in late January.

He has apparently been going through chemotherapy treatments at Stanford University’s advanced cancer center.

The hope for a cure is dimming by the day as the three rounds of chemotherapy he has gone through did not go very successfully.

The report stated that he has already lost 20 pounds in the last couple of weeks, and is only allowed a liquid diet.

He will apparently go through a few more treatments but things are not looking good to say the least.

According to the report from the National Enquirer, he has only 5 weeks to live.

Pancreatic cancer is a malignant tumor within the pancreatic gland.

Over 30,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with it each and every year and though there is always the chance and hope for survival, very few patients manage to completely beat the terrible disease.

We must stress though that there has yet to be any confirmation of this from Swayze or anyone else, so we can only hope that for this one time, this report proves false.

The prognosis with many pancreatic cancers is very serious, but a sizable number of people are alive at one year or even five years after their diagnosis. The article makes pancreatic cancer more grim and hopeless than it is (”with few surviving”). Among the more serious forms of cancer yes, but hopeless, no.

Wish someone could put Patrick in touch with the Antigenics Company, as they have been working on a cure for pancreatic cancer for several years…with some very, very promising results in early testing. They use some of the person’s own cancer tissue to deveop an antigen and reinject it back into the body in a painless outpatient procedure. Pancreatic cancer is one of their top candidates for development. They have just published an article on their early reults in a highly acclamimed US medical journal in Feb. 2008.
God bless Patrick S. and wish him the best.
