New Ad Says Ignore Cancer Hype, Get A Tan

March 28, 2008

According to the Indoor Tanning Association, there is no need to worry about getting cancer from a tanning booth. This goes against the common past belief that indoor tanning in a tanning booth can be very harmful and cause melanoma, among other health issues.Boston (dbTechno) - According to the Indoor Tanning Association, there is no need to worry about getting cancer from a tanning booth. This goes against the common past belief that indoor tanning in a tanning booth can be very harmful and cause melanoma, among other health issues.

The group has sponsored a full-page ad in the New York Times, as well as national television commercials to get the message out that tanning is healthy for you.

The ad they have put out stated “Go get a tan. Your body will thank you.”

The group argues that tanning with UV rays helps stimulate the body to produce vitamin D which can prevent heart disease and other types of cancer.

Many have already come out and have been fighting these claims. The American Academy of Dermatology has stated that you can easily get enough vitamin D with just a bit of sunlight.

Many have stated that intentionally putting yourself under UV rays is not only not healthy, but it is also dangerous.

The American Academy of Dermatology also stated one in five Americans will develop skin cancer during their life.

116,500 are diagnosed with melanoma each year as well.

This campaign and group argue that there is no link between tanning and skin cancer, as it is not dangerous at all.

As they stated, if you go tanning “Your body will thank you.”
