Boston (dbTechno) – According to a new survey released by the science journal Nature, 20% of scientists admit that they use prescription drugs to help boost their brain power, keeping them alert and focused to improve their overall concentration.
These prescription drugs they take are for non-medical reasons, simply because they want to be more focused in on what they are doing.
Overall 1,427 scientists responded to the survey, from 60 countries.
They completed an informal online survey posted on the Nature Network web forum, with the majority of them being from the U.S.
The survey focused on three common drugs, Ritalin, Provigil, and and beta blockers. The Ritalin is used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder usually, while Provigil is used for sleep disorders. Beta blockers are popular for their ability to fight anxiety.
Many are very concerned over the results of this survey, as it shows that scientists are going to lengths to enhance their brains in unnatural ways.
Based off of these results, it can be assumed that if scientists believe the drugs are needed to keep them on par with the others, it seems they would feel it is acceptable.
